Earlier, Darren Bravo shattered five sixes and 12 fours on his way to a 297-ball 195, before the West Indies, most important by 124 runs on the first innings, confirmed its second innings closed on 383 for five. The first Test of the two-match series broken in a draw in Chittagong.

Centurion Bravo lead West Indies supremacy

West Indies 355 and 207 for 3 (Bravo 100*, Kirk Edwards 86) lead Bangladesh 231 (Shakib 73, Naeem 45, Fidel Edwards 5-63) by 331 runs

Darren Bravo's maiden Test century put the West Indies in control of the second Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka after three days.

Resuming on a modest 204 for seven, the home side could only add 27 runs to their overnight total and headed back to the pavilion trailing by 124.

And a third-wicket partnership of 151 between first-innings centurion Kirk Edwards and Bravo took the game away from the Tigers before the latter finished unbeaten on exactly 100.

The West Indies ended the day on 207 for three, a lead of 331 runs.

Bravo lofted his second ball back over Shakib's head for a one-bounce four and then deposited him for six two overs later to set the tone for an uncharacteristically attacking innings.

Two fours and a six followed in a single Nasir Hossain over, leaving Bravo on 25 from 22 balls, and though the left-hander then adopted a more measured approach, his fourth four brought up the 50 stand.

He was dropped by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim and slip Imrul Kayes in the same Shakib over, but progressed to 50 soon afterwards from 63 balls.

Edwards made just four from his first 34 balls before doubling his tally from the next and steadily began to build momentum in partnership with Bravo.

He lifted Shahadat Hossain for six and took two fours in an over from Shakib to reach a 115-ball half-century, and he and Bravo were unbeaten on 59 apiece at tea.

Edwards survived when television replays failed to prove whether a catch had carried to Shakib diving forward, and Suhrawati Shuvo had an lbw appeal against Bravo turned down.

Edwards welcomed Shakib back into the attack with a boundary and Bravo drove Shuvo to deep cover to pass his previous Test best of 80.

But a lapse in concentration cost Edwards his second century of the game when he missed a straight delivery from the debutant and was bowled for 86.

Nightwatchman Kemar Roach survived an lbw appeal and Bravo had a late escape when Shuvo narrowly beat his edge and appealed for a catch behind, but he reached three figures when he cut the final ball of the day for two.

Earlier, Bangladesh started slowly and Shuvo departed for 15 when he prodded Devendra Bishoo straight to Kraigg Brathwaite at short leg - and Nasir followed 11 balls later for 42.

Desperate for a single to keep the strike away from Shahadat, he snatched at one from Marlon Samuels that was neither full nor straight enough for the slog he was trying to play, giving Kirk Edwards the easiest of catches. Shahadat was then cleaned up by Bishoo (three for 62).

The tourists lost Brathwaite, run out by Rubel without scoring, and opening partner Kieran Powell (12) when he needlessly miscued Shakib Al Hasan to Nasir at mid-on, but Edwards and Bravo turned the tables.

Fidel Edwards and Kirk Edwards save West Indies control

Bangladesh 204 for 7 (Shakib 73, Naeem 45, Nasir 33*, Fidel Edwards 5-58) follow West Indies 355 (Kirk Edwards 121, Powell 72, Shakib 5-63) by 151 runs

Five wickets from Fidel Edwards and a century from namesake Kirk put West Indies in manage of the second Test next to Bangladesh.

Kirk Edwards scored 121 as the tourists were bowled out for 355 soon after lunch on Day Two in Mirpur.

Fidel Edwards then had the hosts reel on 59 for five, previous to Shakib Al Hasan, who had previous claim five wickets, led the revival with 73 as the hosts stopped up 151 runs at the back on 204 for seven.

Fidel Edwards first detached Tamim Iqbal, who had hit three boundaries off the preceding Kemar Roach over, thanks to a fine short-leg catch from Darren Bravo, who pouched an easier chance two overs later in the same position to send away Shahriar Nafees.

Raqibul Hasan was lbw in the paceman's next over, follow next ball by Mushfiqur Rahim, wedged by Shivnarine Chanderpaul at slip.

Imrul Kayes, who had seem oblivious to the slaughter at the other end in scoring 29 off 26 balls as well as a pulled six off Roach, was next to go, cutting the ball directly to Kraigg Brathwaite at square leg.

Shakib hit succeeding fours off Edwards, one off an edge and the other a directly drive, but settled in to see his side throughout to tea without further damage.

Shakib establish the boundary again off the first delivery after tea, and reserved up a run rate of better than a run a ball as he passed 50.

He hammers three boundaries off one Darren Sammy more than but were bowled by Devendra Bishoo having put on 84 with Naeem Islam.

That would have represent a good evening for Bangladesh but Naeem was absurdly run out for 45.

Fidel Edwards ended the day with figures of five for 58.

Earlier, Kirk Edwards higher to three figures, but had a caress of luck on the way when he was drop by Mushfiqur Rahim on 90.

He then fractured two quick fours to move to within moving distance of his hundred, and bring it up off 224 balls with a lovely straight drive.

At the additional end, Marlon Samuels had progress to 48 without any real harass, but he was uproot in the 113th over, when Nasir Hossain took a dramatic catch off his own bowling to remove him.

The runs then dried out up short of a Kirk Edwards six and, with the pressure telling, Carlton Baugh tried to cut Shakib but only found the hands of Kayes and departed for six. Sammy then trod on his own stumps.

Kirk Edwards was out soon after lunch, trapped lbw by Shakib, who then detached Fidel Edwards to claim figures of five for 63 and end the West Indies innings.
