Bangladesh bat first as White drop

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and chose to bat first as Australia drop Cameron White for Callum Ferguson for the second incomplete overs match at Mirpur. The home side's only change was to take out Mashrafe Mortaza from the firing line, replace by Rubel Hossain after he was considerably down on his usual pace in the series opener.

Chasing a victory to close the three-match series, chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch lastly lost endurance with White, who has not made an international half-century for six months and struggle to a torturous 20 from 50 balls on Saturday. He was replaced by Ferguson, who was a first-choice player in 2009 before wrench his knee in the ICC Champions Trophy final next to New Zealand and spending 12 months out of the game.

Ferguson played twice in the limited overs series against England before the World Cup, where he chilled his heels all through as the reserve batsman. In difference to White's reliance on power, Ferguson is skillful at placing the ball and should be suitable to Mirpur's slow surface.

"I think that's why he's had the achievement he's had in one day international cricket, in about the 20 games he's played he averages over 40 and a strike rate of 80 odd, so his numbers really heap up well," Australian coach Tim Nielsen said of Ferguson.

"He'll get more chance at some stage, there's no uncertainty about that, and when he comes in I expect we'll see him doing those things and he'll add a bit of spark and a different way of playing in the middle order."
